We have all heard of Adobe Flex/Air. The technology that allows us to build rich internet applications (RIA) for the web and desktop. Well, Adobe released COCOMO, which is a plug-in for Flex that allows you to create social applications such as live video/audio chat very quickly. And the best feature? Adobe hosts the service required to run such applications for you.

So if you ever wished to add live support to your website, now is the time to do it!

Google’s Super Satellite: 41 Centimeter Resolution

You can now see the blades of grass in your yard  with Google Earth! The world’s highest-resolution commercial satellite, sponsored by Google, captured its first shot earlier this week.  The above image is a piece of the very first shot.  Its largest custumer, and also largest benefactor  is actually the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, a U.S. government agency that analyzes imagery in support of national security.  High resolution spy satellites have actually been in use by the military since the late 70s, but have been made avalilable to the public in recent years while simultaneously making huge advancements in resolution.

The artist and experimentor featured here is Norman McLaren,  a pinoneer in animation and sound.  While you are there, check out some of Mclarens’ animations.  They are quite extraordinary considering they were all hand-crafted beginning in the 1930s,  before technology made these things somewhat easy.
