Your cell phone talks to strangers..

Science Fiction is called AIR

Imagine you are on a business trip while walking through the airport, you pass by several TV screens. Suddenly the image of a co-worker appears on a screen before you to inform that he has something you must see.  Science fiction? Not at all.  Such an application is not only possible, but with the latest technology, it is now a reality.
A so called RFID chip build in your cell phone communicates with a server on the Internet and checks your actual position. It also knows which TV-sets (also equipped with RFID chips) are nearby. In case there is a message waiting for you, the TV set near to you displays the message when you pass it.  Such applications, which use the Internet as a platform for any kind of smart software are called Rich Internet Application (RIA). RIAs are Internet based and run on any local application as your desktop computer, laptop, cell phone or even your oven at home.
The “wunderkind” who has made all of this possible in the first place comes from Adobe's AIR.  You can install AIR on each of the named applications and can run “rich Internet applications“ on it without the need of a web browser.  Adobe has developed software such as Flash which includes a programming scripting language called ActionScript that works together with AIR.
By the way, Ardis is an expert on AIR applications. We’re creating and developing new software with Flex, Action script and Java.
